Congratulations! the n . a tracks 'Mystere, Live' and 'Resonance' have been selected for inclusion in the upcoming mp3.com theme cd project entitled 'ladies lounge electronic underground'. this is similar to the complementary mp3.com cd in which 'Threshold' was included quite some years ago. without these promotional opportunities many current fans would not have been exposed to my work. thanks mp3.com, for including me in them. -nee
'the big roll' ezine review 04/13/01 |
Not Applicable Not Applicable is a spectacular and rather cinematic experience. The central texture is influence by Tangerine Dream & Brian Eno and periodically altering its orientation to Phillip Glass & Steve Riech. The other main ingredient is a haunting vocalization sometimes encountered in 20th century classical music. My favorite part of this music is the mysterious tension of the haunting beautiful vocalization. The Music takes occasional ominous sounding detours into new age, and even flirts with electronic windham styling. But the overall aesthetic is still very original. Not Applicable is a resident of Redmond, Washington / USA and I enjoyed this artist immensely.

Hello. I've been listening to a few of your songs (on repeat, something I NEVER
do), and I just wanted to say you have exactly what I needed. I'm writing a
book, and the colour (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about) of a few of the
scenes was off. They were really giving me some shit. I listened to the "mystere" remix first, and I just had it. Your songs have the quality I wanted for my book, the "last gasp into the abyss" sort of feeling. I sat here and wrote for 3 hours (writer's cramp. yay!), and it's coming out so beautifully. If this book were a movie, I'd want you to do a soundtrack. Thanks for your time. and for the music. J. Laine |

listened to atonement. I liked how the piano is keeping it together, and its
interesting how it starts off simple and gets added to with more notes inbetween
the 2 chords. No actually the mysteriously interesting sound that makes this
song is those layed vocals that sound like there sung in an old open spaced
cathedral. it might of sounded better if the reverb was also attached to the
piano, and if the piano was turned down into the mix. Opinions provided by

Oh my God, oh my God!! That's what I'm looking for! (Sorry for my bad English, but I'm a hungarian guy, from Eastern-Europe...) Thanks for making this great site on mp3.com - if you don't make this, I never heard of you and your absolutely fascinating music. (I don't flatter you, this is really one of the most beautiful musics I ever heard, and until this time I never wrote any artists on mp3.com!) To my great regret, this is the only way to get your beautiful-beautiful music - my country has no CDs from you, but it's the same, because I have no money to buy it... (This is a poor country...) So, you ALONE make this great, atmospheric sound and the really amazing vocal? A great future stands before you... And that melodies... If I hear one of your songs (mostly Convergence and Divergence), I get very tranquil and _strange_ feelings. I'm a graphician and a writer in fantastic genre, so I need this feelings... So, what can I say? Make further this great music, and don't give up to realize yourself. You have the talent, intensity and imagination for it, more than much other well-known artists. Greetings... I've been following your music for awhile now, and I believe I have
the courage to ask you about a possible collaborative effort. I'm the leader of a loose collaborative of artists who work on instrumental art interpretations. I have a deep love of the ambient and symbolic, and I love your haunting vocalizations. I'm currently recording a new album with my group, The Seraphi, and I was wondering if you'd care to provide your beautiful vocals to a few tracks. I understand you are busy with many re-mixes with many other artists, but I'm asking for your efforts in a songwriting collaboration. If you're not interested, I completely understand, as I know many of us artEEsts are occupied with influences other than our craft. However, I'd be deeply moved if you show an interest. Our homepage is located at: http://www.dyspepsidisc.com/ The Seraphi (me, myself, and I, for the most part) is a loose unification of my many musical influences, from modal jazz to prog-rock to trip-hop. Keeping with the angelic theme, I tend to do interpretations of religious stories, however, I am no means a religious person. I just like to illustrate these wonderful myths with music. Thank you for your beautiful music, xJeffx |

I was gonna upload it to my mp3.com account but i decided this was rude (as i had not asked your permission for the sounds). I have put it on my www.netdrive.com account if you wouldn't mind having a listen. it's in the 'miscellaneous stuff' folder. Hope you like it, it's sort of ambient hip hop i guess, with your vocals cut up and pitched around to make most of the melodies. Props to you from the UK for your great voice and judging from this picture over here <-remarkbly long fingers... ;) cheers dan |

Hi, I was just linked to your page from 'ismokecrack.com' (wandering aimlessly across the net) and I just want to say that I really enjoyed your songs on mp3.com. While I do listen to some mellower stuff, I generally find myself drawn to the heavier end of the electronic music scene. (Front Line Assembly or :Wumpscut: for instance). I wonder if you would be interested in my doing a remix of your song Mystere? I am not interested in ripping off anyone's sounds or vocals or anything like that, and I've done a number of remixes for other (small) mp3.com bands such as 'TheSarcasm', 'Kilodelta' and 'Coded'.
I really enjoyed the vibe of Mystere, and have some interesting ideas for a semi-club oriented version of this track of yours. If you are interested, you can email me back at jasonbrettwalter@hotmail.com, or if you would like to check out some of my original 'compositions' hit http://www.mp3.com/thoughtcrime. I can't wait to hear your new CD. I just hopped over to MP3.com and
ordered it. Have you considered making posters? I love all of the
pictures of you I have seen. I really like the one of you in the
tunnel. You know, the one where you kind of look like a ghost? That is
such a cool picture, I would love to hang it on my wall. I also really
like the picture of you on MP3.com. You look really good in those
glasses. You are truly gifted. You have beauty and talent. From
listening to your music, I can discern that you are very smart as
well. Man what a lethal combination, brains, beauty, and skill.
Geeze! You have a very lucky boyfriend indeed. Please keep the music
coming. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to contribute
to your efforts. I love your music and your art.

I just wanted to take a minute to tell you how much I love your music. I was very drawn to your style and the beautiful mysterious sound that you have. VERY original, I personally have never heard anything even close to it. I have many ideas for songs that I will begin production on this fall, and your voice would be perfect for some of these ideas. Hopefully you would be up for compilating with me on some of my songs that I will release, I could really use a voice that is as beautiful and harmonious as yours. Excellent job with your song writing so far, I was very impressed. I hope that we will be able to speak more. =) Thank you for your time...

ok, heard some of the stuff you put on mp3.com
however, I decided to check your "not applicable" site (out of curiosity
and sheer boredom more than anything), and heard some of your old stuff,
liked that cover of stevie nicks' tune and a couple other, and I didnt
think your voice was all that sucky at all, as a matter of fact it
sounds quite good. I'm not sure what your reasons are for hiding behind special efx, maybe you're trying to convey a different mood with hushy vocals (specially on your newer DCDish stuff) I cant quite tell. I'd assume is because you feel more comfortable listening to y our own voice while its being washed over by tons of reverb. the downside to that is that it keeps you from projecting your voice basically, you dont get to muscle out your voice or know which really are your limits. the way efx works in recording, is that most people laid down dry tracks and apply efx later on at mixdown, it never goes wet straight to tape, not quite sur eif yo u know anything about recording technique, but that's how it usually works. I'd say, just let it out and stop hiding or being conscious about how it goes out. just commenting on something i sensed in your voice. good luck which whatever route you choose Alva |
