Courtnee Fallon Papastathis, the young lady behind Not Applicable started her music career at the young age of eight, and began to sing shortly after. This Washington State resident managed to pick up on instruments extremely quick and purely by ear, foregoing the traditional methods of song education. By mid 1999 she has already had experience in vocals, Piano, Keyboard, Recorder, Guitar, and then decided to add a synthesizer to that list of talents. Fan mail has consisted of comments such as . . .

"You lift the spirit, as if from beneath the ground....thank you..."

"The percussion work is excellent and the synth melodies are mellow with a trippy bassline and haunting vocals to tie it all together."

"Your music and ideals show a lot of depth"

Courtnee Papastathis basically writes her music in her spare time, "to unload." One of the results of this is Point of Origin an ambient experience; fans of the genre will not want to bypass this album.

Point of Origin begins with My Brave Heart, which is simply Courtnee's vocal's expressing the notes, a very original idea, for a cover.

Convergence follows with basic melodic waves and the beautiful voice of angelic proportions; you will not hear formed words, but much more. "This song makes me cry" says Courtnee, ". . . I guess you could say that it's really personal." It is evident that Convergence speaks of sorrow over a loss but somehow the melody is relaxing, metaphorically, this song can be compared to being suspended under water, floating freely, weightless and alone.

Threshold, track three. A very near gothic flavor, but not quite. Most definitely darker than the previous tracks, Courtnee's vocals have gone from angel to wandering spirit, combined with the flowing music Threshold is quite haunting. Seven and a half minutes of dejection expressed threw her lyrics that contain not one word.

Preterition, my personal favorite is a song of regret, loss, and poor mistakes "This song is for anyone who's ever been taken for granted, stepped over, disregarded, used, abused, mistreated, or generally wronged. Its a nice way of saying 'fuck you' to whoever is or one day will be shit out of luck because you're gone." Courtnee Explains.

Divergence and Infinite Reality are tracks five and six. Divergence is "A distant cousin" of Convergence "a bit darker and much longer" and Infinite Reality is an amazing experience and actually the first original Not Applicable piece when Courtnee Papastathis only had her synth gear for a very short while. Infinite Reality, created in October of 1999 is amazing. It shows that some people were definitely made to create music, a song, such as this one is quite frankly it's own testimony.

Point of Origin ends with where it began, with a remix of My Brave Heart, bringing u back to the initial beauty of her vocals and an upbeat trance like synth line.

Point of Origin is an album of loss, the tunes are relaxing, yet sad, her voice, combined with the ambiance will quite possibly place your emotions into a coma for the duration of the entire album. For an album that has not one word, it still seems to speak to you, the music has a way of speaking its message threw the pitch and emotion in the vocals rather than poetry. Point of Origin is the death of a loved one and the regret our minds ponder, the things that are spiraling around our subconscious every day, Not Applicable is a musical form of these.
