My friends Mustafa, Asmaa, their daughter Faya, aunts and uncles Mozna, Khaled, Omar, Tarek, Abdullah, and grandparents Seham, Hanan, and Mohammad are still fundraising to complete their evacuation to Egypt once the crossing re-opens.
Some of the evacuation fund was strategically used to supply solar for the family to pump groundwater and run a fan, but the they have recently left their shelter in Deir Al-Balah and evacuated to a refugee camp as of late August.
Mustafa, Asmaa and Faya had already paid the fees to cross before the border closed, and once the family is established in Cairo it will be less expensive and difficult to bring the rest. Alternatively, what remains of the current campaign has morphed into a survival fund so the family has a better chance of surviving long enough to get out.
