Ironic insomnia after seeing Inception = worth the new reference to that “I’m gonna fall” feeling that jolts you out of sleep. Also; men in suits. Rowr.

Unlock your Sherlock

They finally released the project I worked on last month. I am one of the waitresses, very background. There’s a few shots of me but they’re so fast, it’s not really worth the effort to try and find me. Glad to have been a part of such a nice looking product. Have fun!

Back to the land of the living

I am on the weirdest schedule now. My feet are puffy and sore. My face is angry from 12+ hours in makeup for days on end. I need about 4 massages to work this weirdness out, and I keep tricking out my jaw when I yawn. I have about 17 projects to catch up on and no end in sight to the onslaught of new ones.  Ah, the glamorous life.

The super-secret shoot I’ve been working on since Sunday was worth it, however.  Even the day I plowed through a 5:30am call, 12 production hours and high tailed it to Pink Door to do my 4 aerial sets immediately thereafter. The best part I reckon are the loads of amazing, lovely and talented people I’ve added to my list of acquaintances. That tends to be a heartening occurrence for me. The food was a close second. They fed us very well, and there is a lot to be said for taking care of your people like that.

I’m listening to Cat Power and prepping for the days ahead, so scheduled and packed I’m not really sure how I’m planning to get it all done and stay standing. I always do somehow, and often get it all done and more, so I’ll just trust that I know what I’m doing somewhere and press on. It was nice to go filterless for a while on a project I wasn’t in charge of – now, though, it’s back to the measured responses of an Executive Director. I think that takes the most work of all, some days.

I’m almost 30.

Take care of you’s, people.

Rocket Man 3 credits by Doug Ortega

Ha! I modeled for this credit sequence a couple years ago, working with Michael Korolenko and Doug Ortega. I thought I might never actually get to see it :) It’s filmed in HD, but isn’t showing like it on youtube. I’ll try to track down a better copy, now that I know it was completed and is semi released.

This Rocket Man movies pay homage to the comic book serials of the 1940′s. They’re really cute and fun.

Mallrobbers premier: Interview footage

I am about 1/3 of the way in.. I said a bunch of stuff about anthony being a visionary director but it got cut for some reason :P Stick with it to the end, he’s pretty funny in his interview.

I swear, my eyebrow has a consciousness of its own. I sure was nervous!

Mt. Vernon ahoy!

Start shooting the comedy in Mt. Vernon today, Had rehearsals last night. Fun stuff. Looking forward to it.

My schedule is going to be shot for a while as we’re filming at night, not sure how much I will be around and posting. I think my life may mostly consist of filming at night and sending resumes out during the days for the next couple of weeks.

Unfortunately something went wrong with my crossposting script and I had to wipe out a lot of the posts I put up in the last couple of days in order to get rid of a really annoying error. So LJers, all your comments were lost. Sorry bout that.

Me, doing comedy? On a plane? With snakes maybe?

Come tomorrow at 6am, I am totally gonna be one of those people reading a movie script on a plane. That is SO COOL I like can’t even tell you :P If I were a better liar, I’d make up some story to the person next to me about how I’m some successful and important bigass movie star person on my way to New York to shoot my A&E biography or some silly shit like that.

But in actuality, I hope I have the strip of seats to myself, so I can concentrate on which part I want in my first feature film.

Now ok, let’s be real here – “Feature Film” means that the film is more than 70 minutes, or something like that. That’s pretty much all it means. This “Feature Film” is an indy film being shot up north a ways. The best part about it? COMEDY! I’m going to act in a comedy!

I walked in to my audition with a half memorized monologue and lots of nerves, walked out with my choice of two parts. I didn’t think much of the situation until Rob was like “Does it feel good to walk out of that audition with the script and your choice of roles?” Well yeah, I guess it does.

To sweeten the ego pot, because of this offer I found myself in the position to have to choose between two projects shooting in August. AIIIIEEEEEE!!

One was this film, another unpaid opportunity 1.5 hours away (one way) and the other was a short film by a first-time director that paid a little, was closer, and pushed my limits, but was another dramatic role. I really want to move into comedy and even musical theater, have variety in my reel, and the script has made me laugh out loud a couple times. So there you go.

I will be traveling a shit ton and filming a movie in Mt. Vernon for most of August. I’m not sure what details I am allowed to release about it so I’m being cautiously ambiguous for now. Maybe I’ll have more to say about it later.

I still haven’t decided if I’m taking my laptop with me, but I’m sure I will come up with a couple random opportunities to post if I don’t. Knowing me, I will take it, though.

Seattle peeps: see you on the 24th, suckahs!

The Spirit wrapped

Finished shooting The Spirit today, that crew is a lot of fun. Hopefully I’ll do decently at keeping in touch with them as life rolls along.

Shooting outdoors wasn’t much different than shooting indoors, except the constant stream of cars messing up our shots and the fistful of crackheads hanging around the SFI being weird and distracting. It made for a few good laughs.

I’m hoping to do some more film and a stage production when I get back from the east coast (leaving on the 12th and coming back the 24th). It would be nice to do one more of each this year at least, and it would make me happy to get on a stage sometime. I really, really want to try my hand at stage work, but it’s kinda tough to do that with a chunk of travel time coming up. I suspect it will be more reasonable to do stage work when I am not leaving for large spans of time during summer productions.

That’s a wrap on Needle Pulling Thread

Just finished up the film ahead of schedule. I did well, and I got some free underwear out of it. The film pushed my boundaries in a number of ways, was very enjoyable to do and the crew was fun to work with. It’s a student film with a bit of edgy content done with some really beautiful lighting effects, I’m excited to see the finished product. It probably won’t go places, being a student project and all, but I’m not exactly horrified by the idea of limited availability considering I was playing a rather contemptuous slutmonster. Then again… :)

I sorta rule a little. And damn I looked hot.

Special mad props to my husband, who not only did the bulk of the old-place cleaning today and yesterday and is currently driving up here to pick me up from the set, but just generally rules on most counts.

I would also like to thank Ivan for his dumping assistance, and Best Western for having wireless which limited waiting irritation considerably.

Donnie Darko, The Directors Cut

THEY TOTALLY FUCKED UP MY MOVIE!!

First of all, they used different takes on most of the scenes they kept, which makes the lines delivered suddenly contrived and meaningless because I can tell it’s a different take, with actors, on a set, in LA, and not my beloved Donnie, and his beloved Gretchen, living their brilliant lives before me with the same nuances and emphasis that I have come to know by heart. WHAT THE FUCK? WHY? They’re the SAME LINES. WHY?

Secondly, THEY FUCKING CUT OUT THE MUSIC on some of the best scenes!! How can Donnie wander up to his house while they remove the artifact from his fucking room without THE ARTIFACT AND LIVING playing in the backgound?! HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU HAVE THE LIQUID SPEAR SCENE WITHOUT THE LIQUID SPEAR WALTZ? Theres some bullshit opera in the soundtrack now instead, and the scene where he is riding his bike home from Carpathian Ridge? They replaced Echo and the Bunnyman with some other fucking song!! And the Sparkle Motion talent show performance while Donnie burns that pervert fucks house down? NO PRETTY MICHAEL ANDREWS MUSIC. NONE. WHAT THE FUCK.

And they cut out Seth screaming “Get off the stage Cherita!”

And they changed Drews scenes when she’s being fired and she talks about losing the children to apathy, and when Donnie is sitting with her before she explains Cellar Door. They fucking replaced pieces of those scenes with other shit instead of just adding to them. No more “They are slipping away”. No more “Tell them that everything is going to be OK”. What the fuck, why don’t you just remove all depth for her character, you tunnel visioned fucking excuse for a director.

They replaced the scene with Dr. Thurman, when Donnie tells her about Frank for the first time, with another take that was completely rushed and ugh delivered. It didn’t flow correctly and I’m pretty sure they shaved something off the end of it too.

I like most of the added scenes, but I don’t like the new storytelling chapters that explain the movie with the pages of Roberta Sparrows book. What, you want to force feed us this crappy time travel metal water tangent universe sci-fi shit story that’s full of holes, remove the music that gave the film it’s awesome atmosphere, replace perfectly good scenes with good dialog when there was no gain in replacing them, and make an abomination of a fucking classi into over two fucking hours of total horror? God damn Richard Kelly, go fuck yourself!

I won’t even fucking finish it. I’m disgusted. My favorite piece of indy artwork of all time has been raped and pimped out to the fucking masses as some souless piece of shit with a paint-by-numbers mentality. I want to fucking throw up. How dare he.

BLAH!#!
