I’ll be walking in up to 4 of my most creative, crowd pleasing outfits as a lifestyle model, and modeling Helene Hawthorne fashions. Lots of fun stuff from the designers being tried on when I left the fitting. Looks to be really cool.

This is what I did this morning. That hoop is really set on me, and that painting is real. We decided on the pose, which is free standing. Then Dmitry set the hoop, marked me with tape, painted and feathered only those spots on my body that showed inside the circle, then shot the pose complete with the colored areas. The white feathers are actually set in the shot too. My hands were numb and my shoulder tweaked from holding that pose, which was originally with my legs even more arched down over my hands, on reflective plastic. Sooo worth it though. This concept of feathers and paint was not my idea, however, perhaps strangely, it fit quite well into the events of my life of late. Photography by Epsilon Images. A few weeks ago, Bev and I modeled for David Peterman, a photographer who is pursuing an interesting self censorship photo project. The idea behind the project is to give people the opportunity to censor themselves how they wish to, and to eventually create a print project of some sort. The “Censored” bars range from sad to ridiculous.
My view on the project is more political/social than the site, http://theyareonlypixels.com, talks about. I like how open ended the project is from the photographers point of view, it’s nice to see someone doing a community project for the sake of allowing others to express what they’d like out of it, rather than saying “This is meant to tell all the nude haters to screw off” or the like. Strange. I just got deja vu. Submitted by courtnee in public - 07.03.09 - 10:48 am

I just got back from SFW rehearsal up on queen anne hill (which I biked up, rawr!). I’m getting excited! It’s going to be a hell of an affair. Tickets are just $15 at http://www.seattlefashionweek.net/ticket It’s a real steal, from what I have been seeing in rehearsals and how huge the event is. I got some great feedback on my walk, which I was pleased to have considering I’ve walked on the runway maybe twice I think, and the last time was the Crave party (for the same people putting this on, picture below) like 4 years ago or something. Ha! I modeled for this credit sequence a couple years ago, working with Michael Korolenko and Doug Ortega. I thought I might never actually get to see it :) It’s filmed in HD, but isn’t showing like it on youtube. I’ll try to track down a better copy, now that I know it was completed and is semi released. This Rocket Man movies pay homage to the comic book serials of the 1940′s. They’re really cute and fun. Submitted by courtnee in public - 03.02.09 - 12:09 pm

Yesterday was one of those “I can’t believe I’m getting paid for this” days! Sometimes I think I struggle so much trying to make a living off of art/modeling and the like because I want more days like that, I want to actually enjoy my work after spending long-e-fucking-nough settling for jobs I don’t really like. I spent all day at Nectar in Fremont shooting a stock photo shoot for Getty. They dressed me up and fed me and paid me to bounce around and wave my hands in the air at what was basically a private party. The first shoot was a Hip-Hop/DJ setting and the second was a killer Jazz band. It was a very enjoyable experience, even with it being so hot in there that I could feel sweat dripping down my thighs. I really, really wish I had worn sunscreen. The green room was outside, and now I’m all sun-kissed on my shoulders and arms. Argh. I HATE that, I like being pale. I am glad to have decided to go. I was on the fence right down to the wire because of my back, being all bruised up, my skin not being so hot right now, and generally just not feeling very social, pretty, or outgoing. It felt great to just be part of a crowd and absolutely not the center of attention. I couldn’t have done a typical photoshoot yesterday for sure. I think it’s about time to find someone to dig their knuckles into my backflesh and break some of this tension up. Edit: As of April 2009, Getty has not paid me for this shoot. Rats. |
