Now that would be awesome if it were actually possible to keep all of the irritating shit out of your life. But, it’s not. It never will be. As long as you have needs, you’ll have to deal with people you can’t stand from time to time. We’re losing that skill, the one that lets us deal with strangers and tolerate their shrill voices and clunky senses of humor and body odor and squeaky shoes.

Vita arts has completed its first workshop!

We came. We saw. We made art. We helped other people make art. We learned stuff. We became one with humility. We both exceeded, and fell short of expectations. We thought on our feet and persevered. We were asked to return.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Things didn’t go as planned. Attendance was less than expected, and we quickly abandoned our impressively prepared structure and variety of offerings in favor of scaling back to a very simple, smaller, fluid system. Way better than being caught with our pants down, though – we were on the ball, overstaffed and over prepared. Anything that went ‘wrong’ was out of our hands. Our volunteers showed, lit the room up and had a good time leading by example. We worked with some kids, and they were great. You can ask for more than that with a first workshop, but it’s probably not a very good idea to expect it.

We did it. We are real. And we have an assload of supplies for next time.

Installing a Husband

My dad sent this along to me, I thought it was pretty spiffy.

—-

 Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and I noticed a
distinct slowdown in the overall system performance, particularly in the
flower and jewellery applications, which operated flawlessly under
 Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as
Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable
programs such as NBA 5.0, NFL 3.0 and Golf Clubs 4.1.

Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the
 system.

Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems,
 but to no avail.

 What can I do?

 Signed,

 Desperate
 ________________________________________

 DEAR DESPERATE,

First, keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while
Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme.html and try to download Tears
6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application
works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the
applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0
to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Please note
that Beer 6. 1 is a very bad program that will download the Farting and
 Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0
(it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of
 all your system resources.)

In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program.
These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited
memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider
buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend
Cooking 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Stuff that’s crossed my mind recently…

A word about Money…

Money is a social necessity that becomes less and less of a priority as I age and develop my sense of what I find important in my life. I make very little, and generally do not have much left over after my modest monthly bills. One of my largest projects is a volunteer position as a founder of a non-profit, and often my performances are unpaid – I have chosen to do what fuels me, and have worked hard to reduce my financial footprint to where I can live how I want and not have to worry (too much) about making a lot of money or making my decisions based on that.

That said, money is a great gift for me. There are things I enjoy and/or would benefit greatly from that are difficult to acquire by means of trade or barter, and money is as versatile as my interests at the time. There is a stigma about money being a cop out gift, and in some respects I can see why. However, for me, money is great. I can use it to stroll the produce section and get my food for the day,  shoot myself into space, go see a movie with you, get some new paint colors, or pad the bank account for vita-arts.org. Neat stuff!

So if you’re stumped, strapped for time, across the country or whatever and a simple ‘happy birthday’ doesn’t float your boat, just send me a fatass check. I’ll totally dig it, and promise I will do something cool with it.

Here’s to making it this far!

Amazing…

And here I thought I had chosen serial monogamy in committed relationships throughout my life because I was just too fragile and wasn’t capable of the self esteem to handle anything else. It sure did bug me, though, cause I had lots of fantastic ideas for many different kinds of things. Recent events have shined quite a different light on that belief.  Now I’m beginning to wonder if what I felt I couldn’t handle was more along the lines of lack of communication and manipulation.

Aha.

Also; I <3 New York.

I’m freakin haawt

Two things I want to post about.

One, is that I am effin BLONDE. Like, EFFIN blonde. Dreadful Jonquil of fiercelocks rocked the lift on my hair. It was amazing. I am unlikely to attempt to go blonde at home again. After 15 years of futzing with orange haystack hair and damage control, it is clear to me that the best person to bleach my hair is not me.

Two is a first in my life, at least that I can remember. I’m pretty gurgled up from the aftermath of what I believe to have been an attack of the allergens. While leaning forward, doing something normal like flipping the switch on my awesome electric teapot or something, I snorted out a bubble. A big one. And it stayed. Long enough to get this snapshot of it.

The fall

About a week ago, at 8:30am on one of the warmer days we’ve had lately, I was riding my bike to work. While coasting from Mercer onto 5th ave, in the mild weather of that sunny morning, a single amber leaf floated to the ground in front of me. It was the first leaf of my fall, my absolute favorite time of the year in Seattle. I smiled. My body even tingled a little.

Life is going so very well. I’ve been staying up too late, and procrastinating house things, but like usual am staying quite busy with all the projects I have going on. For a few months there, I was working 3 jobs, planning a show, doing hair orders, continuing with my Landmark curriculum, and working on my music show which hasn’t materialized yet. Now, I’m still doing all that minus the day job.

I’ve got a couple paying aerial gigs coming up, one of which is for Bellevue Fashion week tomorrow night at Lincoln Center – I’m expecting it to be pretty swank and fun.

It’s been an interesting experiment, posting a calendar online and asking people to utilize it. Though it’s the most efficient, effective way to run my life right now and ensure I keep in contact with people I want to stay in contact with during this windstorm, it’s not as personal as spending a few minutes going back and forth to set a time for getting together. Part of the process in trying online scheduling of sorts out has been wondering how much I’m bothered by that, vs. the idea that other people might consider me pretenteous and become offended.

I’ve realized, that I really don’t have a problem with it at all – in fact, setting things up the way I have makes me much more accessible to those important to me than otherwise, and allows me less stress around my schedule. The time I spend with others become their time, and stays their time, and I feel MORE connected with them than before. So yay. go go gadget interwebs. :)

Tonight is the big Obsidian meeting open to the entire troupe. Much of the show, probably 60%, is scripted and cast. Now that I have all that in motion, it’s time to build a cast at large to fill out the show and create the atmosphere of the world. I’m so excited – because Obsidian is a character driven show, there is opportunity for everyone involved to be performing. I periodically feel the vision breathing through me, at two months out from opening night. I’m looking forward to what manifests this evening.

In other news, I recently found by a rough-tongued and quite rude awakening that Norda has developed a taste for vagina, and that I have to wear underwear when I sleep.

Oh yeah. I went there.

The Stranger Vol 17, No. 51

Synchronicity abound lately – I emailed an aerial acquaintance about getting some trapeze boots made for me, and in our discussion she makes a comment that she’s pretty sure she saw a note to me in the “I saw u” section of the stranger.

I never read the stranger, so there’s no way I would have seen it without someone mentioning it to me. It was pretty amusing to pick up a copy, leaf to the section, scan around and see “COURTNEE” in big bold letters. “We talked about Little red studio and how money != success”. Haha. Could be me, indeed :)

I just love my name in print :P

Dear Charlie

Charlie,

I love you very much. You are a fine feline specimen, a loving and moody and sharp clawed companion with just enough edge to keep me amused and entertained between warm soft cuddle sessions. I like your fuzzy belly and how you show it to me by hiking up on your hind legs, and how you gaze at me while I pet you. I even tolerate you flopping your stinky butthole onto my face when you want attention in the middle of the night. I know it means that you trust me and that you don’t ACTUALLY expect me to lick your butt clean for you.

I’d really appreciate it if you would stop barfing up infected snot globs. And eating it. And peeing on my things. Like, seriously. It’s getting kind of old. I realize you’re acting out against me with the pissing thing, cause I’ve had to spooge icky tasting goop down your clogged kitty throat twice a day for the better part of the time you’ve known me – but come on man, really. My fucking bath towel? That’s just cold. I’m not the one keeping you all sick here.

Love,
-nee

P.S. The ‘keeping me awake all night with your snot horking’ stuff can go too.
