The Now
Currently, I am working up the muster to paint my room. It’s not as interesting as my other paintings, so I’m not getting so far with it at the moment :)
I’ve instead been working on various smaller abstract paintings, expressing sexuality, tranquility and the depth of the mind. Soon, I would like to paint the two large masonite panels I have, perhaps cutting them in half to create 4 large pieces.
I am currently open to commission work at this time, any size, any style, any price range! Please contact courtnee @ neevita.net with interest. I mainly work in acrylics and canvas, canvas board, wood, and paneling.
History
I have been a doodler and part-time artist since childhood, working in many mediums including pencil, charcoal, oil pastel, oil paints, acrylic, and random substances found about my house. I’ve even tinkered in mosaic a bit, and won an art contest while in middle school. I tend to be obsessive about a particular medium for a couple days or weeks, then move on to something else, in a continuing cycle.
I enjoy directing, particularly because it often lends me the opportunity to work in many mediums throughout a project.
In general, I would say my most ambitious excursions into the depths of artistic expression revolve around the how much of myself I put into my works. Obsidian, my most personal and ambitious show to date, was an incredibly energetic and encompassing project for me. I also take to using my blood suspended in acrylic heavy gel in creating paintings, at certain times in my life.
City of Seattle
Pacific Northwest Ballet Nutcracker March is an annual public art project benefiting Northwest Center, an organization that provides services for children and adults with disabilities.
In 2005, I decorated “Mono” in mosaic tile, which was positioned in front of the Seattle Sheraton and displayed at McCaw Hall. In 2006, I decorated “Tree” (pictured) which was positioned in front of the federal courthouse, and displayed at Benaroya hall. It’s an honor to have been a part of these projects.
Fake Hair
Due to the BP oil spill and the devastating wake-up call the disaster is sending, I am unable to rationalize continuing to work with synthetic hair right now, as it is a petroleum product. I enjoy creating and wearing fake hair, and I also find that to continue working with it brings deep guilt and sadness.
I can’t remove petroleum from my life. It’s in my bike tires, my paints, the caulk around my bathtub, the linoleum on my floor. But I can be more responsible in my use of it, and that’s what I want to be doing. I enjoy creating hair for my clients, but the art in my soul has more effective avenues to be shared with the world, some of which use petroleum and are more important to me.
I can give my hair business up, make one piece a year for myself instead, and it will make a tiny, insignificant difference to this planet. What can you give up? What can you support another person in giving up? And another? And even another? How long before the difference, and the message, is not so insignificant after all?
Thank you so much for the support of my customers and friends. It’s been my pleasure to serve you since 2004. I am self-taught through the invaluable resources of the fake hair community online. Specifically, I found the information and the wonderful support from the people at fakehair.livejournal.com, the Heavenly Hair forum (now Hair Extension forum), Doctored Locks, and Quinnsters hair site to be immensely encouraging. If you found me looking for hair instruction, or wish to try your hand at creating your own hair, check out those sites.

Neevita Knits and Crafts
I enjoy crafting; mostly knitting, crochet, sewing, and purse and trinket-box decorating. Due to a short attention span for projects, I usually make scarves and fingerless glove sets when I knit, as well as the occasional hat.
At one time, I sold these creations, because I made enough of them to supply the demand. I haven’t done that in a while after taking on directing, going into business for myself as a massage therapist, and forming a non-profit. I still knit for myself occasionally.

I just found a link to your site on dibspace. I think I might have seen you perform at little red studio. Your website does an amazing job of highlighting your various talents and I wanted to say thank you for inspiring me to bring forth more of my own hidden talents and let my life be a work of art-that is one of my deepest desires.
Greatful,
Naomi
You are so welcome, Naomi.
